HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION AND ADVOCACY
In Somalia, tradition based cultural barriers challenge promotion of human rights such marriage (early marriage and interaction or marginalized people marriage), employment and opportunity for women to have say in the political arena.
DISABILITY RIGHTS & ADVOCACY
This programme seeks to contribute towards influencing positive changes and efficiency in the rights delivery of PWDs in terms of promoting access to Justice for PWDs. KAHRDO strategy is to reduce the vulnerability of PwDs at community level through community mobilization and actions.
GENERAL PROTECTION:
Program Goal: Safe sharing of a common logical address space or common physical address space and fair and reliable recourse usage Objective –To strengthen and develop community structures which provide care and protection for child and to protect children from discrimination, exploitation and other forms of harm. ✓ Gender Based Violence (GBV) ✓ Child protection:
YOUTH AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Program Goal: To provide a safe, structured, and conducive environment for youth to express themselves and Objective: To promote the love of education among the upcoming generation To aid the youth of today to reach their academic goals., To strive to discover talents of youth in our respective community. To keep away the youth from streets, taking drugs and alcohol. To create better future among young people.
EDUCATION
Program Goal: Assist school going children to access quality basic education, through creation of a conducive learning environment, supporting training of teachers and empowering communities to manage schools and development of curriculum Objective: To increase opportunities for school going children to access quality education and assist in the establishment of infrastructure and capacity of personnel to enable delivery of quality education services
PEACE BUILDING & RECONCILIATION
More than two decades lack of central government resulted Somali society to fall apart clans and power struggle started between clans and as well sub-clans. The international community many times supported Somali reconciliation conferences to establish Somali government but failed; at the end the solution was achieved to establish federal system which divided Somalia clan based States without deep reconciliation of power struggled sub-clans.
CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION AND ADAPTATION
Somalia is characterized by high temperatures, low average rainfall and perennial droughts which has perennially affected the livelihoods of inhabitants with more damage to the vulnerable peoples Increasing persistent drought and failed rains over the past decade have had devastating impacts on already degraded lands.
DEMOCRACY & GOOD GOVERNANCE
Somalia has poor history of democratic governance, yet democratic governance and human rights are critical components of sustainable development and lasting peace. We aim to strengthen a democratic society, its institutions and practices of governance in order to promote well-being, social justice, equality and active engagement between civil society, the state and the private sector.
DISASTER RISK REDUCTION
Disasters often follow natural hazards., a disaster’s severity depends on how much impact a hazard has on society and the environment, the scale of the impact in turn depends on the choices we make for our lives and for our environment, these choices relate to how we grow our food.
