On 13 June 2025, two innocent teenage sisters โ€” Fahima (16) and Farah Mohamoud (17) โ€” were brutally gang-raped by 25 men in Lascanood. This is not only a horrific act of violence โ€” it is a test of our societyโ€™s conscience.

They now fight for their lives. The trauma theyโ€™ve endured is unimaginable.

Yet, after a brief statement from local officials, silence fell.

That silence is betrayal. That silence is complicity.

๐Ÿ’ฅ We say: Enough is enough.

๐Ÿ’ฅ We say: No more silence. No more impunity.

On behalf of KAHRDO, and in solidarity with all survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in Somalia and beyond, we demand:

๐Ÿ”น Full and independent investigation โ€” survivor-centered, transparent, and free of political interference.

๐Ÿ”น Justice through the legal system โ€” not customary settlements.

๐Ÿ”น Medical, psychological, legal, and safety support for Fahima, Farah, and all survivors.

๐Ÿ”น Ratification and implementation of CEDAW and the Maputo Protocol to protect womenโ€™s rights and dignity.

๐Ÿ”น Urgent activation of the Somalia Women, Peace & Security Action Plan (2025โ€“2027).

We also call on:

๐ŸŸฃ Civil society and women-led organizations to unite and amplify this fight.

๐ŸŒ The international community to fund, support, and protect grassroots human rights defenders.

Justice for Fahima and Farah is justice for all Somali girls and women.

We will not stop until justice is done.
