Observing Red Hand Day – 12 February ✋🏾

Today, we mark Red Hand Day, raising awareness to end the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict. Children belong in schools and communities, not in war.

This day serves as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to protect the rights of children who are often caught in the crossfire of violence. We emphasize the importance of ensuring that children can grow up in safe environments where they can learn, play, and thrive.

We call on governments, communities, and civil society to take decisive action to protect children from the horrors of armed conflict. It is crucial to support their rehabilitation and reintegration into society, providing them with access to education, psychosocial support, and opportunities for a brighter future.

Moreover, we urge accountability for violations against children, ensuring that perpetrators are held responsible for their actions. Together, we can work towards creating a world where children are shielded from violence and can fulfill their potential as future leaders.

Let us unite in our commitment to protect our most vulnerable and advocate for their rights today and every day.
