For us at Kalkal Human Rights Development Organization, we were honored to participate in the Regional Cross-Border Conference on Ending FGM, which brought together civil society organizations (CSOs) from Somalia, Somaliland, and Djibouti to strengthen collective action and promote shared learning across the region.
The conference provided an important platform to exchange experiences, highlight best practices, and discuss practical strategies for accelerating efforts to eliminate FGM. Participants explored the role of legal frameworks, community engagement, awareness-raising initiatives, survivor-centered approaches, and cross-border collaboration in protecting the rights and dignity of girls.
Through this regional dialogue, we reaffirmed our commitment to working collectively to end FGM and to ensuring that every girl grows up safe, healthy, and free from harmful practices.
