PROJECT KICK OFF MEETING

Project Name:

Enhancing Preventing Violations and Strengthening Protection of Human Rights, Including in Situations of Conflict and In Security.

Project Description:

The “Enhancing Prevention of Violations and Strengthening Protection of Human Rights, Including in Situations of Conflict and Insecurity” project is a community-centered initiative designed to address the increasing threats to human rights in conflict-affected and insecure environments, particularly in Baidoa District. The project aims to prevent violations and build a robust, localized protection system that empowers communities, civil society actors, and local authorities to work collaboratively in safeguarding human rights.

By focusing on prevention, early response, and rights-based dialogue, this initiative promotes long-term protection solutions. Through targeted trainings, community dialogues, awareness campaigns, and the establishment of early warning systems and referral pathways, the project will build a protective environment where vulnerable groups — especially internally displaced persons (IDPs), women, children, and persons with disabilities — are informed, supported, and protected.

This comprehensive approach supports national and international human rights obligations, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement, and relevant regional frameworks, while fostering resilience and community ownership in addressing human rights challenges.
