Kalkal Human Rights and Development Organization is excited to announce five part-time volunteer opportunities designed especially to encourage and empower fresh female university graduates to step into leadership and social development roles.
About Us
Kalkal Human Rights Development Organization (KAHRDO) is a non-political, non-profit entity founded on July 7, 2013, by a group of Somali intellectuals and philanthropists to respond to numerous humanitarian challenges as a result of the civil war and frequent natural disasters like drought and floods which lead to lack of basic services and great human suffering, KAHRDO has grown to be one of the leading players in responding to humanitarian needs in Somalia.
Kalkal Human Rights and Development Organization is a community-focused NGO dedicated to promoting human rights, gender justice, youth empowerment, and inclusive development across South West State. We work closely with communities to strengthen protection systems, build resilience, and support vulnerable groups, especially women, girls, and people with disabilities.
With over ten years of experience, KAHRDO prioritizes women's rights, youth empowerment, and social justice.
Its initiatives include awareness campaigns, legal assistance, and training programs to strengthen community capacities. Through these dedicated efforts, KAHRDO has positioned itself as a key advocate for human rights and sustainable development in the regions.
Role Summary
We are seeking five motivated, committed, and socially engaged volunteers to support community outreach, awareness activities, peacebuilding, GBV prevention, climate change advocacy, and youth mobilization initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for passionate individuals who want to gain experience in humanitarian and development work.
Key Responsibilities
- Support community mobilization and outreach programs
- Assist in organizing trainings, workshops, and awareness sessions
- Participate in GBV prevention, referral awareness, and gender justice initiatives
- Help in documenting field activities, success stories, and field reports
- Engage youth and women groups in community activities
- Promote human rights, social cohesion, and peaceful coexistence
- Support climate change adaptation and community education campaigns
Requirements
- Strong interest in community service, human rights, and social development
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with diverse community members
- Basic literacy and ability to document activities (preferred but not mandatory)
- Must reside in Baidoa or surrounding areas
- Respectful, reliable, and committed to volunteerism
