Child Missing After Sea Accident in Marka

Marka City Report – Child Missing Due to Rough Sea Conditions

Marka, 11 July 2025 – A tragic incident occurred earlier today in Marka city, where two young children were swept away by strong sea currents during the summer season, a time marked by high temperatures and increasingly dangerous tides.

The two children, believed to be between the ages of 9 and 12, were swimming near the shoreline when powerful waves pulled them further into the sea. According to eyewitnesses, local residents and bystanders were able to rescue one of the children, who is now recovering with minor injuries and trauma. Sadly, the second child remains missing as search efforts continue.

This unfortunate incident highlights the urgent need for increased public awareness, community education, and child safety measures—especially during seasons when sea conditions are more hazardous. Despite the severity of the situation, no immediate response or preventive messaging has been issued by the local administration to inform families and protect children from similar dangers.

@kalkalhuman strongly calls on the relevant authorities, humanitarian actors, and civil society organizations to take immediate action, including:

Launching public awareness campaigns on sea safety.

Deploying community lifeguards or sea patrols during high-risk periods.

Establishing clear warning signs near beaches and shorelines.

Offering trauma support to the affected families.

Every child’s life is precious. Preventive action, timely response, and community engagement are critical to ensuring that such tragedies do not occur again.
