Kalkal Human Rights Development Organization KAHRDO), founded in 2013, is a women-led, non-profit organization addressing humanitarian crises and promoting human rights.
Over the years, KAHRDO has become one of the leading organizations in humanitarian response and human rights advocacy in Somalia. Our core areas of operation include: Human Rights Protection and Advocacy, Child Rights Protection and Advocacy, Advocacy to End Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG),Promotion of Socio-Economic Rights, Human Rights for Environmental and Climate Justice, Peacebuilding and Reconciliation, Youth and Women Empowerment, Democracy and Good Governance, Environmental Conservation and Climate Change Advocacy, Disability Rights Advocacy, General Protection Coordination, Education Support and Sponsorships for crisis-affected children.
KAHRDO is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Community Mobilizer to work closely with local communities, ensuring active participation in programs, strengthening community networks, and supporting awareness campaigns that promote human rights, gender equality, education, and social development.
Job Description:
The Community Mobilizer serves as the primary link between KAHRDO and the communities it serves. The role ensures that project activities are delivered effectively, communities are engaged, and beneficiaries actively participate in programs. The Community Mobilizer will facilitate communication, organize community-based events, collect feedback, and support project teams to enhance program outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Mobilize communities and promote active participation in KAHRDO projects and activities.
- Organize community meetings, workshops, and training sessions on human rights, gender equality, and community development.
- Conduct awareness campaigns to educate communities on rights, protection, and social development initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local authorities, beneficiaries, and partner organizations.
- Collect and report community feedback, challenges, and success stories to project teams and management.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of community-focused activities in line with project objectives.
- Promote KAHRDO programs through community engagement, advocacy, and outreach initiatives.
- Support monitoring and evaluation by providing data and reports on community participation and project impact.
- Act as a representative of KAHRDO in the community, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Skills Required:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
- Strong ability to engage, motivate, and coordinate with diverse community members.
- Experience in community mobilization, advocacy, or social outreach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational, planning, and reporting skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive community issues with discretion.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or digital tools is an advantage.
Educational Requirement:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in social work, Community Development, Development Studies, Sociology, or related fields.
Experience Requirement:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in community mobilization, NGO programs, or social outreach projects.
- Experience working with local communities, human rights programs, women’s empowerment initiatives, or development projects is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to organize, mobilize, and engage communities effectively.
